Anime Alliance International congratulates Otakuzine Magazine and it’s staff for a very successful National Cosplay Competition and Ozine Fest ’06 in general for showing an outstanding spectacle for anime and non-anime fans to see last Sunday, July 30, 2006 RP Standard time… here’s more from our correspondents.
July 30, 2006
A rainy day has dawned upon Otakuzine’s “Ozine Fest ‘06” wherein the very first National Cosplay Competition of the Philippines has been presented at Le Pavillon in Manila. As bad as the weather had turned out, the event has pulled in a lot of Anime enthusiasts as well as gamers and other spectators that wanted to take part and witness history in the making as it continues to promote Anime and Cosplaying in the nation. Organized by Mr. Bryan and Dennis Uy of Otakuzine, De La Salle Nihon Kenkyu Kai and their partners; also in cooperation with Mr. Eric Go of HERO TV, Cosplay.PH which has contributed a lot for the event’s success and of course commentated by Mr. Carlo Pablo of Kyoudo, the stage and mostly the event continued to be lively as the cosplayers rolled out and showed their extravagant and well-made costumes on stage around 1:30pm.

Q: What do you think of this year’s Ozine Fest ’06?
A: Actually, I’m so happy.. they have already come up with a very different event, wherein they concentrated on one event, because after all, in an anime community… there’s a lot of activities in an event… so now they came up with a National Cosplay. This is like the pioneering culmination of all the cosplay event where we’ll pick the nation’s best cosplayer every year.
Q: Now that you’re about to see the nation’s best cosplayer, what would HERO do about it?
A: Well of course, we’ll be giving full support.. and hopefully next year, we’re planning to have a much bigger event in terms of cosplay competition, because initial talks with Ozine… we want to send our best cosplayers as representatives at the International Cosplay Competition in Japan hopefully next year.
Q: Are there any updates you’d like to give on the upcoming World Trade Center event for HERO?
A: Of course we’re trying to arrange everything that we can settle things as early as October and hopefully by September we can release plugs and teasers about the World Trade Center which is the H3 or the Hataw Hanep Hero. So, in that event, we can see everything from cosplay, and also school ridden and independent organizations in terms of Anime would invited and would seem like a competition of organizations.
Q: A lot of criticism about HERO Channel’s shows are being childish, what would you like to comment about that?
A: First of all, when we put up HERO TV, our original market is really from 6 years old to 18 years old, so of course the direction of the channel is towards those ages. We want to show the viewers that HERO TV is doing responsible broadcasting. We don’t want to be tagged as a channel that broadcasts some edgy and/or slight obscene anime shows/titles, so usually when we have some titles for mature or edgy as I’ve put it, we put them on a very late night schedule because HERO TV is for kids. But of course we also have vintage titles which evens up the ratings of adults watching our channel.
Q: HERO TV continues to grow as August is just around the corner, aside from Hurricane HERO, what more could we expect from the channel.
A: Well, we’re planning to have a bigger event and highlights on September, and we are also releasing 8 new titles, never seen before on HERO TV and Philippine TV… We have a lot more plans… and definitely Anime Alliance will be one of those few organizations which will know on what we will release on September…

A: To take cosplaying to another level.
Q: Are there more National Cosplay Competitions to come?
A: Hopefully hehe
Q: Aside from the NCC, what is this year's highlights?
A: There will be an upcoming H3 and UP ame.
Q: Are you guys planning for an Ozine Fest '07? If so, how would you forsee it and what would be it's highlights?
