Anime Alliance Philippine's News Article for the 2006 Comic Creation Seminar at SM Megamall, Metro Manila

October 14, 2006

The 4th Comic Creation Seminar has been held at the Megatrade Conference Hall 2 at SM Megamall in Ortigas. One of it’s highlights is the large roster of international artists from Glass House Graphics and different parts of the globe whilst another was the display of works from Mr. Nicholas Manabat and the late Alfredo Alcala. Through time, the participation in the Comic Seminar has increased. These types of seminars has been one of the keys for more and more successful Filipino artists giving them easier opportunities to promote their own works and creations to the international community. Glass House Graphics is one of those few who helps the talented Filipino artists in showing their artwork and designs not only in the country but worldwide. It’s growing rate of artists brings the group pride and success.

“Having good reading and writing skills is needed for an international artist” as Mr. Alex Manabat, father of Nicholas Manabat, told us in an exclusive interview. “Practice and practice will polish their outstanding drawings which is being popular to international scouts” he added. In the seminar, we’ve also encountered the son of the late Alfredo Alcala, Mr. Alfredo Alcala Jr. who’s there to exhibit his father’s legacy in the field of animation and design.

“We’ve changed the style on how we hold this comic creation seminar” Mr. Azrael Coladilla, one of the organizers told us in an interview. “The other target of this comic creation seminar is to provide good opportunity for the artists to show their artwork internationally…” He added as they’ve held the seminar for the 4th time. “…We’ve started preparing for this seminar a month after ToyCon 2006, so it’s been quite tight but we’ve managed to hold it here…”

This comic creation seminar has become an inspiration to a lot of artists not only in the field of anime but in the field of art. A lot has been looking forward to this seminar, and though the price may not be affordable, it’s worth the pay.

A follow-up regarding this event will be posted in a week… keep updated with Anime Alliance Philippines
