Motorcycle accident at Quez
on Avenue leaves victim at 50/50
MANILA, Philippines. A black Kawasaki Fury collided with a green passenger jeepney at the westbound lane of Quezon Avenue infront of the Great Eastern Hotel in Quezon City, Philippines this Thursday, February 5, 2009 at around 1AM RP standard time. Local traffic enforcers and roaming police units surround the scene immediately as the crowd builds up, trying to get a glimpse of the accident. The driver of the black motorcycle, as we arrived at the scene, was laying on his back, unmoving with a broken left leg and was suffering from what it seems to be a back injury and a major bump at the head. The accident as explained by a witness, seen the motorcycle overtaking the jeepney on the left side but lost control, swerved and then had the impact on the front-left fender of the passenger jeep which tossed the motorcycle 1 lane apart from the 4-wheeled vehicle. "...humahataw at malikot yung motorsiklo tapos nadali nya y
ung jeep, eh alam mo naman na motorsiklo lang yan..." (...the motorcylce was speeding and swerving, then hit the jeepeney, and as you know, it's only a motorcycle...) One of the witnesses said as we asked about what happened. After 10 to 15 minutes of our observation, RPN, UNTV and other larger media field reporters arrives at the scene immediately taking photos and video of the accident, then a paramedic unit arrives at the scene and immediately gives first-aid to the driver of the motorcycle. He was diagnosed on having a broken leg, back injury, head injury and a major concussion. He was then placed on a stretcher and was immediately taken to Capitol Medical Center, which was the nearest hospital in the area. 
The jeepney driver was not in the scene for long as he was taken away by local traffic police to get his statement and to know whose mistake it was. "mag-silbing aral sana sa inyong mga motorista na mag-ingat lagi sa pagmamaneho mas lalo na ang mga drayber ng motorsiklo" (Let it be a lesson to you all motorsists to drive safely especially motorcycle drivers" one of the local police officers shouted before leaving the scene.
